Cross Counties Golf Society - Who are we?

The road to the Cross Counties Golf Society

Some years ago (and more than I want to contemplate) a number of scruffy erks ran around muddy Essex football pitches as part of Erinsborough FC. As the average age increased and people moved out of the area we came to the realisation that it had run its course, although not without trophies I might add. What then to do to keep this sometimes merry band of brothers together? Well golf presented the answer.  A core of ex Erinsborough joined with an extended family of misfits, miscreants and misadventures, frankly a right mischievous bunch, to form a golf society that due to its geographical backdrop was named Cross Counties. The inaugural outing was effectively a stag do and to be honest this theme has effectively continued as such for over 20 years.

For my sins of which there are many, I was invited to be the Chairman of this illustrious and greatly esteemed ensemble though I take no responsibility for any of them.

A number of competitions both team and individual, are held each year across the length and breadth of the UK and many on international shores. What you will find within this storehouse of information are the records pertaining to these competitions but also to those of such disposition, to the stories behind the data which I hope you may find illuminating and comical.

Each year donations are made to a charity and although a case can be presented by any of the members for any given charity the default is MacMillan to which a princely sum of £2000 has been made.

Help yourself to the pages of history held within and enjoy.
